Restoring Dignity: The Life-Changing Work of Bakhita Villa
The Foundation of Bakhita Villa
Named after St. Josephine Bakhita, a Sudanese saint who endured slavery before dedicating her life to service, Bakhita Villa stands as a beacon of hope for survivors of human trafficking. Located in Lagos, Nigeria, this International Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) was founded to address the urgent need for rehabilitation and reintegration programs for trafficked individuals, particularly women and young girls.
Under the leadership of Sr. Patricia Ebegbulem, the coordinator and a relentless advocate against human trafficking, Bakhita Villa provides a safe haven for up to 30 survivors at a time. These individuals, affectionately called "Treasures," are welcomed with open arms and a commitment to restoring their dignity.
