Who We Are

Bakhita, as it is commonly called, is an International Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) owned by the Sisters of St. Louis Nigeria Province. Located in Lagos, Bakhita is renowned for its anti-trafficking initiatives, which focus on the rehabilitation and reintegration of survivors of human trafficking. Established in 2014, the organization is coordinated by Sr. Patricia Ebegbulem, SSL.

The facility includes a shelter with the capacity to accommodate up to 30 survivors, fondly referred to as "Treasures." Over the years, Bakhita has coordinated, participated in, witnessed, and collaborated with various Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), NGOs, and government agencies in activities aimed at combating human trafficking. In addition to anti-trafficking efforts, Bakhita is also actively engaged in the fight against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).

A notable highlight was the prestigious award presented to the coordinator, Sr. Patricia Ebegbulem, SSL, in London. We give all the glory to God and extend our heartfelt gratitude to our collaborators, sponsors, and well-wishers for their unwavering support. May God's blessings continue to be upon them.
